Belchim was founded in Belgium in 1987 and became Belchim Benelux after an expansion into the Netherlands, eventually being renamed Belchim Crop Protection in 2001. The company has been very successful, year in, year out, at focussing more on specialised crop protection products in various countries including Belgium, the Netherlands, France, Germany and the United Kingdom. In 2004, Belchim Crop Protection became a shareholder in Nordisk Alkali, a company in Sweden, to ensure access to markets in the Scandinavian countries and the Baltic States. More recently there have been expansions into Italy, Spain and Portugal.

Thanks to these enlargements and due to partners such as ISK Biosciences, FMC Chemical and others, Belchim has been able to develop its product range to be one of the most complete in the protection of potato crops. However, Belchim Crop Protection has not simply stood still. By jumping on the bandwagon of technological advancement, the company has continued together with its partners to develop other innovative products in various domains.
